Autumn is approaching and after the Christmas in July sale ends, autumn collections will fully dominate the shops. It's such a pity when the summer is starting to move towards its end. In fact here in Ireland autumn will start on the first day of August. Oh well... This is a perfect reason to introduce Best Team shop Cutesy Bootsie selling hand knit items using the best yarn. Most of her designs are from her own imagination. Her love of knitting gets some strange looks and comments from people in South Florida who don't understand that people in all climates can enjoy something hand knit. An apple a day....

Do you know the saying "An apple a day will keep doctor at bay"? And do you follow this advice? I must confess I don't as I don't really like apples too much and prefer various berries. So now I am enjoying strawberries, blueberries, rasberries and am looking forward to blackberries to ripe. However, I do love the colors of apples very much. Especially the green apples. This is why I have decided to create an apple green glass bracelet. The beads I used look like apple candy and seem to be tasty enough to lick. However, it is designed to be worn, not licked;) And I do believe that wearing something inspired by nature and pleasant to the eye can also be beneficial for health. Positive emotions are crucial for feeling good after all:)

However, I should also mention that I do like baking with apples. So for those of you who like baking too and can read in Russian, here is a recipe of a very delicious and also a very simple apple cake. All you need for the cake is apples, eggs, sugar and flower. For 3 eggs 1 cup of sugar and one cup of flower are needed. Beat the eggs, add the sugar and continue beating until the mixture becomes white. Then gradually beat in the flower. Pour the dough onto the precut apples and cook until ready. Apples can be substituted with peaches, pears, plums, rhubarb or berries. Really simple and delicious:)

Hop on the Rainbow!

We have been having amazing weather in Ireland lately. A couple of days ago I was travelling home and saw a bright double rainbow in the sky. I was so upset I had no camera with me. However, when I came back home I remembered that I had some colorful lampwork beads and I decided to recreate the rainbow in jewelry. And this is how Hop on the Rainbow bracelet was created. It can be matched with virtually any outfit for an instant brightening up. Same way as a rainbow in the sky makes everyone smile regardless of their initial mood.

I also made matching earrings. It was a double rainbow after all:)
There is something special about rainbows I think. Do you like rainbows? And do you know all the colors that a rainbow has?

I am so bad, I have missed out on a month of blogging. To my excuse, I was working on a long District Court case. Usually I get very little work, however, this past month was very good for me. Today I would like to present you a lovely husband and wife team creating amazing jewelry - Alexander's Designs. Jenny made macaroni necklaces as a child, like most children do. But her love for many years was drawing and painting. It wasn't until 2002, when she discovered beads and a love for jewelry. She has been designing and creating her own line of jewelry ever since. What she loves most is seeing other people wearing her art. "It brings a smile to my face every time."
In 2005, Jenny's husband, Skip, joined her for a lamp work bead class. He has been creating with her ever since. They have also taken classes in Fused Glass and Borosilicate Glass together. I wish my partner had some passion for jewelry making rather than for football playing. But oh well, I am happy that he is supportive and tells everyone I make beautiful jewelry, rather than complains about the time I spend on Etsy.

Today I would like to present you Susan from Wag's Creations - your place for custom wooden letters, greek letters, custom crosses, benches, and travertine coasters. She also specializes in wedding albums and other items. All letters can be created even if they are not listed in the shop EVEN GREEK LETTERS! So it is the place for all of your lettering and sorority needs!
The name of her Etsy shop came from her black labrador retriever, Harrison. She'd affectionaly nicknamed him "Wags" because he would often lay in the floor of her craft room and just wag his tail. Susan writes in her profile that "since he is a rescue dog, that is one of the greatest feelings of satisfaction, seeing and hearing his tail wag, because that means that he is happy here with us and that we are providing a good life for him." Likewise, she gets a similar feeling of satisfaction when she can deliver a customized item to a client and they are equally as happy.

I am really late with my feature this week because I am on a holiday to my home country Lithuania and although I feel uneasy spending so little time on my Etsy shop I enjoy quality time with my family and meetings with friends immensly. Anyway, today I want to present you a multi-talented Etsy artist Nevita - she runs a handknit scarfs, necklaces and gobelin shop Nevita and landscape and nature photography shop Photosprint.

Nevita learned to knit and make gobelin tapestry, when she was a child. During school offs, she went to her grandparent's home. Her grandmother tought her different handmade technics, such as knit, crochet, sewing and others. During the years, she was paying more attention to knitting and gobelin tapestry, and found she enjoyed it a lot. It became Nevita's hobby, and after her daughter's birth she wanted to share the products of her passion with people around the world.

All Nevita's photographs are taken in Europe. Today I have the honor of presenting you The Garden Room, a sweet shop with watercolors and other visual art. Patricia, who is behind this flowery visual delight, is mostly a self taught artist, she received a diploma in art after completing an art course studying all mediums with The Penn Foster College. She has also taken lessons locally studying acrylic and oil painting. In addition to making watercolors, colored pensil drawings, mixed medium paintings, other visual art and note cards, she makes lovely jewelery.
There are so many pretty items in Patricia's shop, but Yellow Throat Warbler Matted Original Painting is one of my favourites.

Today I would like to present you Claycass - Handmade Polymer Clay Jewelry. Cassandra (what a beautiful name, don't you think?) considers herself a polymer clay artist, because she discovered this medium many years ago, and has spent a great deal of time working with the polymer clay. Moreover, she is a proud member of the Polymer Clay Artist Guild of Etsy!
I know how challenging as well as exciting it is to work with polymer clay, because I have tried my hand at it too. Not to much success I must admit, so I can say it takes a lot of experience to make such lovely pieces as Cassandra does.

St. Patrick Parade in Cork

Happy Paddy's day everyone!:) Today was a big day in Ireland - St. Patrick Day. There were parades on the occasion everywhere from cities to small towns. The parade in Cork was fun as always. So I want to share some pictures with you. The girl in a crown is me wearing traditional Lithuanian clothes.

And here is me with the representatives of the Bangladeshi community. Their traditional clothes are so rich and bright, I just loved them.

And these Hungarian kids were marching in the parade behind our group with their school. They were so cute and really eager to pose.

Participating in the parade is great fun. There is one down side though, you do not get to actually see the parade, only the groups that are close to you. So I have never seen the parade yet, because every time I go to it as a participant!:)

How to Embed a Document in Your Blog - Explanation and Example

Recently Justin Smyth posted an explanation how to embed a document on one's blog. It's supa easy and any kind of document can be shared in this way including word, power point and adobe documents. To do this go to Scribd website. It works very similarly to the way youtube works for videos. One's you have uploaded your document and filled the headwords and details if you want your document to be easily found by others, hit on the title of your document to open it on the website. Then hit share function over the document to get the code. So easy!

So here is my attempt to do this. This is an extract of my presentation on Exeter Riddles. I think I will make a powerpoint presentation for my jewellery some time soon:)

I am starting a new weekly feature related to a new team that I am in - EBST or Etsy Bloggers Street Team! The idea of the team is to blog about another member of the team and promote their Etsy shop and you get the same in return from another member. Each week we draw a different team member to blog about. This is my first week and although I cannot promise that I will be making this feature on the same day each week, I hope you will enjoy it:)

This week I want to present you Zoie and Leal and their wonderful shop Bit's n' Beads by Gilliauna. They makes a variety of beaded jewelry and you will certainly find something close to your heart in your shop. Isn't that cute? The shop is easy to navigate as the sections in the shop are made according to the type of jewelry and it is not only necklaces, earrings and bracelets they is making, but also charms and embellishments, eyeglass holders (such a great idea says a glasses wearer, that is me:), I.D. badge lanyards, rosaries and bookmarks. Moreover, if you are a jewelery maker yourself or want to give it a try there are beads and destash in their shop too. And they are really beautiful, so you should definitely check them. I personally like these purple vintage pearl beads.

My top favourite item from their shop is this necklace with pendant called La Fleur. It is so romantic!

I also love this gemstone cluster bracelet with amethyst and heart toggle clasp. It's very hard and time consuming work to put so many dangles on a bracelet, I can tell you that!

Finally, the last item from Gilliauna's shop that I want to show you today is this eyeglass chain. One will never forget or lose glasses with such a beautiful chain:)

Today was the first time that I have been on Etsy front page and it is possibly the most successful promotion for any shop. I am so excited about this! The set featured on the FP sold and the shop got many new hearts, what else one could wish for;) Thanks so much to Studioelenus who chose my set for her treasury which made it to the front page:)

Today I want to show you one particular design that I am putting into my Etsy shop. It is very optimistic and moodlifting, so I could not resist sharing it. It is inspired by and made with playful orange lampwork beads. Some have standing out darker orange swirls and some green and red bumps. This set is great for funky stylish children and teenagers and those children at heart:) Tell me what you think about it!

Football team cake

It was my boyfriend's B-day yesterday and I cooked him a coffee and walnuts cake. However, it was not the taste of the cake that was special, it was quite average to be honest, but its decoration. He is a big football fan and I decorated the cake with a football game and even came up with the story of what is going on on the field. He was thrilled when he saw there was so much action on the cake top. One player is trying to score, another one is blocking him and the goal keeper is ready to catch the ball, while another player just threw his rival on the ground and the referee is about to show a yellow card! Anyway, here are some pics of the cake and my dearest about to blow the candles.

Finishing my stay in my home country and making (finally making) a blog post about new business cards sounds kinda absurd, but yet this is what I am doing now. Although there is snow outside and I have come for so short I've made no photos outside, so I will post some winter shots from previous winter in another blog post I guess, just for the sake of eye candy. But for now here are my new businesscards made with Vistaprint. I know they are nothing close to the creativity that I showed with business cards made by others a couple of posts below and the photo on them is not even one of my item, but still for the first business cards I've ever had, they look professional at least. I hope. And what do you think?

Winter in Co Cork

This winter has been the coldest winter in Ireland since 1963 so far. Today traffic in Dublin is distrupted due to snow, but here in Cork country it is bright and a little bit frosty. Probably some people could protest and say it is not a little bit, it is very cold really, but I come from Lithuania where at winter sometimes temperature can fall to -25 degrees C, so I am really enjoying the weather. Not too cold and not a cloud in the sky. Here are a couple pictures from the coast. So that you can see why I am enjoying the weather;)

Playing hide and seek

I was playing hide and seek with Hidden Eloise some time ago. She is a wonderful artist and makes amazing drawings with lovely characters. One of her caracters is a brown bear. I love bears and I call my beloved partner a polar bear, so could not resist buying something from her shop. Now I am waiting when she will create a story with polar bears:) I'll show you what I bought from her and sure I got tonns of freebies too. So cute!

Obsession with cupcakes

Lately I have been obsessed with cupcakes. Is it a bad thing? Hope not!
First I cooked some cupcakes with my new cupcake kit. I have to admit that the topping was far not as tasty as it looks. Far too sweet!

Then I went for making some polymer clay cupcakes. I am still learning how to make them. The biggest problem is to make two cupcakes of exactly the same dimensions. Hopefully one day I will manage that and then I will be able to make earrings with them. So far I have made a bracelet with cupcake charms as a Christmas present for my partners niece. It was a huge success:)

The green land and first treats

Hello. I am back in the land of posting after a long break. Fully setled down in our new home in Ireland. Will post some pics of the house later on. Toning I want to rejoyce over two sales that I unexpectedly had on the next morning after the day Internet finally arrived in our house, show my new Christmas packaging and share the unexpected gift that I recieved from Tanya, my fellow etsian from Crafty Ireland Team.

So I had two sales, one of my Christmasy penguins and another one of The Princess and the Pea earrings. The pinguins travelled to Belgium, while Tanya from TanyaMac's shop purchased the princess earrings. Check her shop for festive paper bauble sets like this one and beautiful headbands like this lovely one. Tanya had previously fancied the Christmasy penguins so I send her a pair of them together with her order. So they are out of stock now, but I still have festive Christmas trees made into earrings and Christmas hats. I packed both earrings in beautiful Christmas boxes and tied them with matching ribbon. Here's the way the orders looked ready for posting.

I do not have any of the sources used for this packaging left, but I solemnly promise that if I have any more sales this festive season I'll pack them to the same high standard. I yet have to come up with things like branding and business cards:)

This is the latest wrapping that I used for a bracelet and I still have these materials, so further packaging may be variation of this particular theme.

Tanya was so kind that in exchange for the penguin earrings she send me one of her beautiful headbands beautifully packed and with a card that she designed herself. I admire her creativity and her drawing skills. Wish I could draw myself. Weren't I lucky to get such a nice surprise gift?

This is what I found inside the envelope.

And this is the headband that was hiding inside the packaging. I makes me feel closer to nature and I will certainly wear it with a smile trying to make this world a happier place. What a positive message!

And this is the beautiful card that Tanya designed herself.

Tomorrow we will be minding my boyfriend's sisters kids, so it should be fun. It will be like a holiday for them, they will be staying for the night with us. I will certainly try to do something creative with them and if we come up with something nice, I'll post it here;)

So I actually managed to get that slot in Treasury West, but the funny thing is that Veronica from VeronicaRStudio also got a treasury slot at the same time and guess what! Her topic has also been the color blue and we even chose some same items for our treasuries. How funny is that! Here's her treasury, I have to admit that Veronica's title is way better than mine:) The Sky Is the Limit! and I just called mine Azure... I am posting the photos of both here:)
Oh, and by the way, once you have some free time it is not as difficult to make a treasury as I had imagined. In fact, I enjoyed it a lot!

Etsy treasuries

Writing this post while waiting for Etsy treasury to open. How do you get a treasury when there are two treasuries left to expire and it is about half an hour of official time until then? Do you actually staring at the page or doing something else at the same time like I am now for example? Today has been a lucky day in terms of treasuries - my items been featured in two and chosen as an alternative for a third one. Cool, isn't it? It's all thanks to the new Etsy team I belong to. The two treasuries that my items were featured in are curated by RandRCreations and Blue Forest Jewellery. Here they are: Fall Colors n Falling Leaves and Dreams really can come true... The latter one is so colorful, it is very close to the aesthetic that I like myself. So here they are visually in case they have expired by the time you are reading this.

Sandy, who is behing TheEarringBoutique has formed a new Etsy team called The Lonely Jewelers, which I am a pround member of. I have never been in a team before, so this experience is new and exciting. I will have to learn to catch slots in treasuries now, as the team members have to make at least one treasury featuring other members a month. This is great, I will be able to help promoting other members and my shop will be promoted too. Looking forward to knowing other members of the team closer.
Another exciting news is that Sandy was also successful in making a treasury called Autumn Bobbles today morning, and she chose my Autumnal bracelet as one of the items for it. Yey!

I have finally figured out how to make a blog button and made three for my prospective supporters to chose from. You are very welcome to grab my button and put in on your blog, and do tell me that you did it, I will gladly post your button on my blog too. Having figured out how to make a button I want to share this skill with those bloggers who want to make a blog button and do not know how to yet. It's very easy! Another useful thing which I found out today is a twitter guide explaining how to achieve over 2,000 followers over 10 days by Susan Sheehan. Start from the bottom with the day 1. It's extremly well written, easy to understand and does not demand a lot of effort. I highly recommend viewing these tips.

Dog stories

This post is inspired by the World Animal Day, which was celebrated on October 4. There was a special event for animals in a local park in Vilnius. For me dachshunds were the stars of the event. There is something to these dogs and I think that it is not just that I had one as a kid. Hopefully some day I will have one or even more again.

On this occasion I also want to tell you about my fellow etsian Pam behind BenMcfuzzylugs who makes felted animals. Most of her profits go to a dog rescue charity that saved her dog from being put to sleep and her foster dog Mia. Pam has a special listing 100% of the profit from which goes to Dundalk Dog Rescue. It is a collage of the photographs of some rescued dogs in their before and after shots. Moreover, she is raising the awareness of to the plight of red squirrels in Scotland with this lovely Nutkin the needle felted Scottish red squirrel.

And this is not all. Another talented Etsy artist Sherryl behind Skylar's Candy Clips has organized a competition "I heart my dog" on her blog. Well actually I was so slow to make this post, that the competition ended on October 1, but the winners have not been announced yet. I am looking forward, no no, I did not participate as I do not have a four-legged friend yet, but I do have my favorites. The thing about this competition is that one of the prizes is a felted figurine of the winner dog by Pam. How cute is that!

baby shoes fetish

Recently I started a thread on Etsy asking my fellow Estians, who would like to be featured on my blog. Although promoting my blog was not the primere intention of that post, I really want to start writing feature articles here, this has given me 6 new followers, in addition to finding some very creative people and their products.
As there has been a birth in the family just a few days ago, cute baby shoes made by petitefeet caught my attention straight away. My personal favorites are these delicate girly Courtney Blossom shoes made for 6-12 month-olds. The Courtney Blossom is made using lined cotton fabric and 100% wool felt.

cazhoffy also makes fantastic baby shoes. You can buy them in her shop called Seamingly Possible. I fancy these Balerina Booties for newborns up to the age of 6 months. These little booties are made in 100% cotton polka dot fabric and gorgeous soft fabric on the inside to keep little feet cosy.

Having looked deeper into this field, I have LaLaShoes.She makes gorgeous felt shoes. In her shop announcement she writes that "as pediatricians suggest, babies need to walk in soft-soled footwear for better muscle and balance development. I combined this need with my love for designing and sewing and the love for natural materials and healthy living - I started LaLa! Shoes." Sophie is my fav design for girls and WaWa is great for boys.

Oh, and just look at Emily Rust Orange and Ooop Green. Aint they cute!

Zebra style at home and in fashion

One of my favourite occupations is daydreaming about the home that we will have, so in my blog I want to post some home ideas that I come across and love. My boyfriend has this idea to have a zebra. As far as I have heard they are hardly trainable, unless you are genius, like that man who rides a zebra to a local pub.

So I am thinking about integrating zebra style into our home. If you find zebras to be one of the most beautiful animals, here are some tips how to decorate your home with zebra pattern.

Another great idea is wall decals. I especially like this wall decal by Solana Graphic Studios. Not only their wall decors are affordable, imaginative and witty, but also they can be moved several times without damaging the walls or the stickers themselves.

I was writing about London Fashion Week for work today and saw this hat by Kinder Aggugini. Something to wear at the races.

As I am interested in jewelry and especially lampwork beads, I could not finish this blog without showing some zebra pattern lampwork. These black and white beads made by Pink Beach Studios are so lovely. Imagine wearing a matching outfit with jewelry made with these beads.

Mulberry's the Florists - my fav design

I was updating or basically retaking photographs for my listings on Etsy and decided to post more photographs of my favourite design here, including those with the bracelet from this design actually being worn. I have loads of photos of this design in various settings. The beads I use for this are so grassy, in such appealing fresh colors and full of texture. Although on Etsy I list only a bracelet and earrings in this design, I also make necklaces with these beads. Moreover, although I have repeated this design several times (I am a proud wearer of such a set myself and I wear it most frequently), I never make two sets look the same, by using different complementary beads, like using different colors of swarovski cristals. I called this design "Mulberry's the Florists", because I like Virginia Woolf's "Mrs. Dalloway" a lot and the extract where she comes to the florists is among my favourite ones. Woolf is amazing at putting moods into words and describing impressions and settings: "There were flowers: delphiniums, sweat peas, bunches of lilac; and carnations, masses of carnations. There were roses; there were irises. Ah yes – so she breathed in the earthy-garden sweet smell as she stood talking to Miss Pym." I also try to put moods into my jewelry, only positive ones of cause:)

Our elf house and other adventures

Tonight after a long period of silence I want to tell you about my resent trip around the most spectacular places in Ireland that my dearest took me to. We had a 5-day trip driving around and staying in hostels and B&Bs. I was the skipper, not always a very good one tho. Road-map reading is not one of my strong points, but oh well, I am learning.
We went to Fota Park to see the animals and cheetah run. The run was amazing, we saw them actually hunting for their food. Although Fota is actually very close to Cork, in fact just about 20 min by train, I have never been therefore and I just loved it. We took four kids with us and they just loved it too.

Then we went to Glengariff intending to sail to Garnish island to see the tropical garden, but the weather in the morning was not that good at all, so instead we drove all the way along the coast in West Cork, going on the Beara Way and seeing Durcey island. Unfortunately the cable car to the island was closed. We also drove through the Gap of Dunloe, oh it was quite scary. Those stones look so unstable, as if they may fall on you any moment.

We also saw those miniature houses suittable for elves and joked that we would tell everyone that's the B&B we stayed in. Aint' they sweet?:)

And then we went to Inishmore, one of the famous Aron Islands. It was a truly amazing experience. First of all, I finally saw Dun Aonghasa, a place where the land ends. It's a cliff, but it looks like a strictly vertical wall, so one could make one more step and drift into an abyss forever. Moreover, the wind is so strong there, that mostly people peek down at the water lying on the edge of the cliff rather than sitting. And surely no one does it standing. It's a mesmerizing view and a truly unforgettable experience.

In addition to that, we were cycling on a tandem bike, and it was the first cycle for me ever. Yes, I cannot cycle, I am not joking. After stopping being scared, I enjoyed it so much, that now I am thinking about trying to learn cycling again and if I do not succeed I know a solution now - buying a tandem bike for us. Oh, and we did visit all the three pubs on the island:)

Now I am looking so much foward to us reuniting and building up our life together. Soon xx

First on-line sell

Today is a happy day. I had my first sale on Etsy, a perfect place to sell and shop handmade treasures. So these lovely romantic flowery cinnabar earrings ''Valley of Bliss'' are to travel to Australia tomorrow.

It's a great feeling to start going international.
So I had to prepare these earrings for a long journey to the land of Oz.
First I packed them nicely and softly into a cool butterfly box.

Then closed the lid and found some matching ribbon.

And finally firmly tied it around. Now the earrings are ready to go.

However, this is not all. I decided to give a nice present to my first on-line customer and chose these gentle pink jade berry earrings for her. Hope she will like them and enjoy wearing my creations.

Starting the blog

I launched this blog a good while ago, made two posts and stopped, then used it as a place for bookmarks of useful things, instead of using social bookmarks, and then forgot about it all together. Now i am coming back to it. Here I plan to write about the jewellery that I make, various goodies I find on etsy, my holidays, books I read and so on and so on. Was thinking for a while that I need new trainers. With Irish weather it is not always a good idea to wear fancy high heels. Besides living here I somehow got used to casual wear. And with my tough schedule I often have to rush to uni. But I was feeling very skeptical seeing all the girls in white trainers this spring season. Until I saw these Gola sports. They come in pink and azure. There are less glitzy styles available too. Those are in bright colors like violet, blue or orange and can be seen here
